Look Up Lodge

This past week I got the chance to go to Look Up Lodge!

I went with my brother's church Broadway Lake Baptist. We stayed from Wednesday August 6 through the 9th. My brother Larry and I were the two chaperons. There was 7 of us all together. I have to say that I had such an amazing time!!!! At first I was kind of scared to go! I was in charge of 3 girls! Marie, Brittany, and Reagan. I have never in my life been to a camp. So when I first arrived I was terrified! Not only did I end up having such a great time learning about The Lord, I had a blast with the kids!!! There was so much to do. Our schedule was so jam packed fun of fun stuff.

The first day we got there we were greeted by all of the summer staff. It was so exciting!! They welcomed us cheering and screaming!!! When we got out of our car we were told we were going to be on the Green team. Our two summer staff people were Tyler and Landry.

They were so awesome the whole week!!! They really taught the kids all about Jesus! The kids loved them!!! We stayed in the cabin at the main entrance. I have to say I am thankful we did because all of the hills we had to walk really killed me!!!! I am so out of shape!!! We got to do all kinds of activities the next day. Tristan, Kalab, and myself got on the giant swing. I can't believe that they made me get up there! I have to say that you could not pay me enough money to get on it again!!!

                                                   Tristan, Kalab, and Me!

We also rode the zip line into the water too! It was so much fun!!! We also swam! In order to swim in the deep end you had to take the swim text which was from one dock to the other and back. It was a lot further than it looked. I passed!!! Yay me! There was also a slide!! I think that was so much fun! I think it was my favorite thing!

This is the swimming area!
Each night in chapel we learned so much! I think it really opened my eyes to some things I really didn't realize about myself and The Lord. The message each night was so awesome!

Our first night
Us all!
All of us with Larry in the Back

Also each night they would do a skit. The characters were: The King of Look Up Lodge, The squire Patsy, Princess Daffodil, Drake the Draganslayer, Quincy Quick Draw, Pirate Dave, Hugel Hugel, and Malo Mallee (the bad guy).

Pirate Dave!!

The King

Malo Mallee

Princess Daffodil

Quincy Quick Draw

Drake the Dragon Slayer

Hugel Hugel

The Play was so funny! I don't think I ever laughed so hard at some points. My favorite character was Pirate Dave! The play was basically about Malo trying to become King of Look Up lodge. He was evil and stole the specter. Pirate Dave, Quincy, Hugel, and Drake were trying to get the specter back by working together!

All in all I had such a wonderful time at Look Up Lodge!! I want to go back next year!! Hope you enjoyed my blog!!

Sydnei's 2nd Birthday (making her Piñata)!

So this year for Sydnei's 2nd birthday I decided to do Bubble Guppies. She absolutely loves this show. She is all the time asking "bubble guppies on, bubble guppies on." When I started to plan her party and find decorations I couldn't find any anywhere. Party city had nothing.....Not even a Bubble Guppies cake. I was so upset. So I started to Google.... I made just about everything for her birthday! I made centerpieces, cake toppers, party favors, the piñata, and had my cousin make her a dress!

Here is the dress my sweet cousin made for Sydnei! I love it!

Here is how I made the Mr. Grouper Piñata!!
You need:
2 cups of flour
1 cup of water
2 bowls
I use and old table cloth
Gloves
Newspaper (shredded)
White paper (shredded) (last layer)
A balloon
Paint (golden/ and yellow)
Card board (for the fins and tail)
And most of all patience!

First I mix the water and flour in one of my bowls. I make it to a paste. Not to watery or to thick either.

Then I shred my newspapers into strips.

I then blow up my balloon and put on my gloves.

Now Let the messiness begin!!!

I take the strips of paper and dip them in the flour mixture. I try not to get them too wet that way my balloon will dry a little faster. I put the strips on the ballon but leave an opening at the bottom of the balloon for when it is time for the candy to be put in.

The first layer is done! Yay! Now its time for that patience. Wait for the first layer to completely dry. When it is dry you repeat the process all over again!

The last layer I always put white paper so I have a clean canvas to paint on or decorate.

I then pop the balloon and let it dry completely. Next I will start to paint!! :)

Here is the paint I used it is called....

Yellow Flame

                                              King's Gold
                                                   Royal

Here it is painted!!

Next I filled the piñata with candy and packs of goldfish!

Next I put a piece of cardboard in the bottom. That way I don't get any of the flour mixture on the goodies inside!

I then repeat the process of the newspapers over again 3 times! And paint the bottom one more time!!

I then make the tail and arms and face! I painted the arms and tail with white paint first. I then painted them the King's gold

Now all I have to do it add the tail, fin, arms, eyes, and mouth. I hot glued them to the base.

Here he is..... Mr. Grouper!!!!
I always get my husband to add some large zip ties to the top to hang them by.
