Sydnei's 2nd Birthday (making her Piñata)!

So this year for Sydnei's 2nd birthday I decided to do Bubble Guppies. She absolutely loves this show. She is all the time asking "bubble guppies on, bubble guppies on." When I started to plan her party and find decorations I couldn't find any anywhere. Party city had nothing.....Not even a Bubble Guppies cake. I was so upset. So I started to Google.... I made just about everything for her birthday! I made centerpieces, cake toppers, party favors, the piñata, and had my cousin make her a dress!

Here is the dress my sweet cousin made for Sydnei! I love it!

Here is how I made the Mr. Grouper Piñata!!
You need:
2 cups of flour
1 cup of water
2 bowls
I use and old table cloth
Gloves
Newspaper (shredded)
White paper (shredded) (last layer)
A balloon
Paint (golden/ and yellow)
Card board (for the fins and tail)
And most of all patience!

First I mix the water and flour in one of my bowls. I make it to a paste. Not to watery or to thick either.

Then I shred my newspapers into strips.

I then blow up my balloon and put on my gloves.

Now Let the messiness begin!!!

I take the strips of paper and dip them in the flour mixture. I try not to get them too wet that way my balloon will dry a little faster. I put the strips on the ballon but leave an opening at the bottom of the balloon for when it is time for the candy to be put in.

The first layer is done! Yay! Now its time for that patience. Wait for the first layer to completely dry. When it is dry you repeat the process all over again!

The last layer I always put white paper so I have a clean canvas to paint on or decorate.

I then pop the balloon and let it dry completely. Next I will start to paint!! :)

Here is the paint I used it is called....

Yellow Flame

                                              King's Gold
                                                   Royal

Here it is painted!!

Next I filled the piñata with candy and packs of goldfish!

Next I put a piece of cardboard in the bottom. That way I don't get any of the flour mixture on the goodies inside!

I then repeat the process of the newspapers over again 3 times! And paint the bottom one more time!!

I then make the tail and arms and face! I painted the arms and tail with white paint first. I then painted them the King's gold

Now all I have to do it add the tail, fin, arms, eyes, and mouth. I hot glued them to the base.

Here he is..... Mr. Grouper!!!!
I always get my husband to add some large zip ties to the top to hang them by.

Heather!!
